Feeling stretched thin and a bit unseen at home? You're not imagining it.

Most couples don’t fall out over “who does the dishes”. They fall out because of everything that sits underneath it.

The mental list that never stops running in your head. The appointments, meal plans, birthday gifts, school emails and invisible tasks you carry automatically because someone has to.

The default role you slipped into without ever consciously choosing it.

Meanwhile, your partner genuinely believes they’re doing their best and they probably are. But you’re living two different versions of “what it takes to run this home”, and no one has ever shown you how to bridge that gap.

So you get the same pattern on repeat:

  • One of you feeling like you’re doing more than you can hold
  • The other feeling criticised or confused
  • Conversations that start with good intentions but end in tension
  • Quiet resentment building in the background
  • A sense of distance where you want connection

You love each other, that’s not in question. But without realising it, you’ve absorbed old, inherited roles from childhood, culture, or past relationships.

And those patterns quietly shape who notices what, who acts first, who remembers everything, and who mentally “carries” the household.

When those patterns go unspoken, they don’t just affect chores.

  • They affect how supported you feel.
  • How respected you feel.
  • How close you feel.
  • How much bandwidth you have left for yourself, your relationship, and your life.

This is the moment most couples ask themselves:

“Why does something so simple feel so hard?”

The truth is.....

The mental load isn't a chore problem - it's a dynamic problem.

Fix the dynamic, and everything at home gets lighter

More teamwork.
Less tension.
More connection.

When you start with, not against, the dynamic underneath the mental load, everything at home begins to shift.

You feel less resentment and more relief.

Your partner feels less defensive and more confident about what needs doing.

And you both start to move through daily life with more clarity, calm and respect.

Here's what couples often notice when the dynamic begins to shift:

  • The load feels clearer and more shared - no more carrying everything in your head
  • Conversations get easier - less spiralling, more understanding
  • You feel more supported - The emotional weight stops sitting on one set of shoulders.
  • Home feels calmer - simple routines reduce the chaos or mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Connection returns - when resentment drops, closeness has space to come back.
This isn't about 50:50 splits, its about a home dynamic that feels fairer, lighter and more connected for both of you.

What to expect

You won’t find chore charts, blame, or one-size-fits-all rules,  just a framework that helps you both find what’s fair for your home.

Instead, this is a clear guided process that helps you:

  • See the invisible patterns shaping how you run your home
  • Remove the resentment loop that keeps tensions high
  • Have calmer conversations that don't spiral into arguments or ghosting.
  • Build shared systems that make responsibilities visible and fair
  • Shift the dynamic gently so you can reconnect as a team

And yes, one person can begin. When you shift how you understand, communicate and organise the load, the dynamic naturally starts to change.

This isn't therapy. It's a practical time-bound reset designed to work in real homes with real schedules - so you can finally build a home life that feels fair, supportive and connected.

MODULE 1

Make the invisible visible.

You’ll map the mental, emotional and physical load you both carry,  the things you do, the things you remember, and the things you anticipate before they even happen.
This is the first step in breaking long-standing patterns: when you can see the load clearly, you can finally talk about it without defensiveness or blame.

MODULE 2

Understand the roles you never chose but still live by.

Here you uncover the beliefs, expectations and silent rules you absorbed growing up the ones shaping how you and your partner show up at home today. You’ll see exactly how these inherited scripts affect fairness, communication and responsibility… and how to rewrite them.

MODULE 3

Break the loop that keeps you stuck.

Resentment doesn’t appear overnight — it builds slowly in the gaps between intention and reality. In this module, you’ll learn how to recognise the patterns that fuel resentment, understand why you both get triggered, and learn tools that help you reset tension before it turns into conflict.

MODULE 4

Talk about the load without it turning into a fight.

You’ll learn practical, grounded scripts and conversation tools that reduce defensiveness, increase understanding and help you stay connected even during tough discussions. This is where communication stops spiralling and starts creating teamwork.

MODULE 5

Embed a pre-built and simple shared system that keeps everything in one place.

Stay aligned with a simple weekly rhythm. No more lost info, repeated reminders or things slipping back to you by default. Just one clear, calm way of running the week together.

MODULE 6

Keep the balance long-term, even when life changes.

You’ll learn how to maintain your new habits, repair quickly when old patterns creep back in, and navigate seasons of pressure (school, work, life events) without falling into “default parent mode.” This is also where you learn how to model partnership for your kids.

How the 30-Day Reset Works

  • Start date: 19th January 2026 A fresh reset at a calm moment not during the festive overwhelm.
  • 30 days of short daily lessons:
  • 5–10 minute video

  • 10–15 minutes of guided reflection
(around 15–20 minutes a day, total)

60 days of support calls (though fortnightly group Q&A sessions) so you never get stuck

90 days of access to revisit anything you need.

The timeframes are intentional  most “go at your own pace” courses gather dust.

This reset is designed to give you just enough structure to build momentum and see real change without feeling overwhelmed.

Plus you'll receive the following digital resources

The Share The Load Workbook

This digital or printable workbook contains all your key learnings, lessons and reflections,  so you can return to the work long after the 90 days.

The Ultimate Life Planner

The mental load doesn’t live in your head anymore. The Ultimate Life planner is pre-built inside a Free web-based tool shareable across mobile and desktop with your whole family. The pre-built templates are set up but also fully customisable for your family. This helps you and your partner co-share the load of everything from, the weekly to-do lists, meals and cleaning to school admin and holidays, (and even when the dog last got vaccinated). When it’s all out of your head and shared with your partner, there’s no room for “I don’t know xxxxxxxxx” excuses.

You might be wondering......

“I honestly don’t think my partner will ever change.”

You’re not the only one who feels that.

But you don’t need both of you starting on the same day. When one person sees the pattern differently and shifts how they show up, the whole dynamic begins to change. Strong partnerships aren’t “set and forget” — they’re built, gently, through small shifts over time.

“This all sounds great… but I’ve barely got time to breathe as it is”

I get it. Everyone here feels time-poor. That’s why this is only 15–20 minutes a day for 30 days.

Yes you might have to sacrifice some social media scrolling or a bit of Netflix, but that little bit of time is the very thing that is going to give you back time (and connection) in the long run.

What’s the real cost when home life doesn't feel balanced?

It's not just about the chores. It’s the quiet distance that creeps in when things don’t feel fair.

The constant pushing through comes at a price far greater than this programme ever will.

  • It costs your energy, because you can never fully switch off.
  • It costs your peace, because the mental noise never stops.
  • And it chips away at your closeness, because the little niggles turn into quiet resentment the kind that slowly builds walls between you.

Most couples don’t realise this imbalance is the beginning of so many bigger challenges later on.

When the load feels heavy, everything at home feels heavier, your communication, your patience, your connection, even the way you see each other.

The real cost isn’t financial. It’s the emotional tax you pay every single day when nothing changes.

You can’t put a dollar value on the cost of disconnect — but you can take the small, practical steps now that prevent it.

"This invisible mental load is a major driver of mother burnout - and if we don't change this our kids learn the same pattern"

Why this approach is different

Most advice tells women to delegate more or lower their standards. And it tells men to “help out more”.

But that completely misses the point.
The mental load isn’t a chore problem — it’s a dynamic problem.

Share the Load takes a different approach:

  • It helps you both understand the pattern you've fallen into (and why it keeps happening).
  • It gives you language that doesn't end in conflict, shutdown or defensiveness
  • It replaces blame with clarity, so no one feels attacked or criticised
  • It focuses on tiny practical shifts not impossible overnight changes
  • It gives you one simple shared system so the load becomes visible, shareable, and easier for both of you to carry.

This is why the tone at home changes - not because someone "tries harder", but because the dynamic finally makes sense and you both have a way to change it.

Meet your coach - Hi, I’m Lisa.

Before Share The Load ever existed, I spent years inside people’s homes,  literally on the floor, clearing cupboards and sorting through clutter, coaching my clients to let-go of the physical load (the clutter). So many of the women I worked with confided in me about the mental load they were carrying, underneath what could be seen on the surface.  Women would tell me, often in tears:

  • “I’m so tired.”
  • “I can’t switch off.”
  • “I’m trying so hard and it’s still not enough.”
  • “I never expected life to be like this”

They were overwhelmed by the responsibility and load of keeping their home and family running.

But before all this, I spent years in the corporate world as a Finance Director in a global business. My days were built around systems, people, structure, efficiency, pressure and deadlines I know what it means to carry a heavy load in both worlds: home and work. It’s also why I see patterns quickly. Because I was trained to.

So when I was helping women let go of the physical clutter, I could see the mental and emotional clutter too,  the patterns, the tension, the unspoken expectations, the inherited roles they were living out without realising.

It was never about laziness, or love, or one partner “not trying”. It was the dynamic underneath their home life.

Once I saw that, I couldn’t unsee it. So I dug deeper. Into the research. The mental load. Cognitive labour. Partnership dynamics. Communication traps. Belief loops. Resentment cycles.

Not because I wanted to become a therapist but because I wanted to give women and their partners a framework to improve their own dynamic before ever needing to reach a marriage counsellor's couch.

Couples aren’t failing. They’re following a pattern. And patterned things can be changed.

For the last six years, I’ve been on a mission to lighten the load for women and shift the dynamic inside homes. It started with physical load (clutter) but now has to include the mental load too. Because I truly believe:

If we want equality in the workplace and wider world, we have to start with creating more balance at home for women.

That’s why I created Share The Load in 30 Days. The first program of it's kind that deals head on with the issue of the mental load. It helps couples

  • see the pattern
  • shift the pattern
  • and build one simple shared system that finally sticks
